About the city

Cracow is a city located in southern Poland on the Vistula river, the second largest city in Poland both regarding to the population and area. It is one of the oldest Polish cities, a former capital of Poland as well as the current capital of the Lesser Poland region.  Cracow is now one of the leading centres of Polish academic, economic, cultural and artistic life. It has been cited as one of Europe's most beautiful cities.

How to get to Campus of the Jagiellonian University?

The conference address is ul. Gronostajowa 7. It’s best to take a tram from the main train station to get there. Line number 52 (towards „Czerwone Maki P+R”) will get you straight to the Faculty of Biology, the stop you must get on the tram is called „Teatr Słowackiego” (a 5 minute walk from the station/Galeria Krakowska) and closest to the destination is „Kampus UJ”.

Transport

You can move around town by tram, bus or taxi. The 2 first options are most budget-friendly. As for tram tickets, they can be bought in machines at larger tram stops or inside trams. You can choose the ticket type depending on the length of the ride plus if you’re a student or not. There is a fair student ticket discount, the 20 minute one costs just 1.40zł (€0.20). Bus tickets can be bought at small kiosks by the bus stops, there’s also a special student discount. A helpful app for generally finding your way in Cracow is „Jakdojade”. Very percise and easy to use!

Tasty recommendations

It’s most affordable to eat in restaurants with traditional Polish food, milk bars made mainly for students like „Pod Temidą” (ul. Grodzka 43) or Mamałyga (ul. Podwale 2). There are also nice pizzerias like Dominium (e.g. Rynek Główny 22) where there is a 40% student discount. Near the Campus area there is a restaurant with a variety of different meals called „Bistro Hygge” (ul. Zachodnia 27).
