About our conference

Student Association of Cell Biology of the Jagiellonian University cordially invites you to the 6th International Conference of Cell Biology which will take place on 6-8th November 2020 at Jagiellonian University, Cracow.

International Conference of Cell Biology is a scientific event held annually since 2014 in the Institute of Zoology and Biomedical Research of the Jagiellonian University. The conference aims to provide a platform for students and young scientists to share their knowledge and strengthen cooperation, as well as to discuss, present, and evaluate their own research findings. We hope that presentations of respected scholars from different countries will inspire the attendees of our conference to choose their own career paths in the most rapidly developing branches of cell biology.

The conference has an interdisciplinary character – presentations of its participants cover a broad range of topics, ranging from animal cell biology to that of plants, including medical biology, immunology, genetics, stem cells, pharmacy, biotechnology, as well as cancer biology, biophysics, biochemistry and chronobiology. This variety makes the event one of a kind in the country, enabling a dialogue between scientists of many different nationalities and fields of molecular biology.

The number of undergraduate and postgraduate students participating in the conference increases every year, which clearly proves that the event is becoming more and more popular, both in Poland and abroad. The crowning achievement of the Organisational Committee was an honourable mention for the third edition of the conference given by the Students’ Scientific Association StRuNa. Owing to that, the Student Association of Cell Biology was shortlisted for the prestigious, countrywide prize awarded by StRuNa in the category Project of the Year 2017.

Among the invited guests were: Professor Hugh Piggins from the University of Manchester, Professor Christoph Neumayer, a surgeon and lecturer from the Medical University of Vienna, Professor Chiara Zuccato from the University of Milan, and Professor Bandana Chatterjee from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

This year, our Guests are:

Professor Eeva-Liisa Eskelinen, University of Turku, Finland

Professor Jonathan Heddle, Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University, Poland

Doctor Pierre Neveu, European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany
